A Bay Area Legend.

Welcome! Skyline is one of the oldest continuously running 50Ks in the United States, with results going back to 1982. Thousands of runners have had their first ultra here, folks like former race director Ken Gregorich and course record holder Yiou Wang. Many have come back year after year, like Charles Savage, who ran the first Skyline and just completed his 25th! Now, it's your turn. Take your place in history.

2 events: 50K and Half Marathon. Both are UTMB Index races, and the 50K is part of the Pacific USATF Grand Prix.

Why runners come back

Skyline is a great first 50K, and that's mostly because of who shows up. Bay Area running clubs run the aid stations. The Volunteer Safety Patrol appears like a flash mob at key intersections to point the way and cheer you on. Volunteer ham radio operators handle all our communications, so somebody always knows where you are.

The finish line

It all ends back at the Marina with plant-based BBQ and beer. Bring the family. Skyline is a plant-based race. Plants are cool.

You'll get a race shirt, Skyline socks, and a finisher's medal. We give awards to the overall winners and three deep by age group.

First ultra?

Your first ultra starts here.

Skyline has been a lot of people's first ultra. Thousands of runners have started their trail careers at Lake Chabot.

We've always had a rookie award (we just never kept very good records of it). This year we added something more. We came up with it at the finish line with Carola, Ken's wife and his co-race director.

New this year

The Ken Gregorich Prize

The top two men and top two women in the 50K who are running their first ultra win a GoldKen ticket, which is an entry into the Dick Collins Firetrails 100K.

Named for Ken Gregorich, former Skyline race director and a Skyline rookie himself.

Legends

Two ways to get on this page: run fast, or keep coming back. The course has changed over four decades. Rob Anex set the men's record in 1985 on the original point-to-point course, so think of these as marks to chase, not exact comparisons.
